About Us

In the summer of 1979, recent art school graduate Andrew D’Amato was looking for a way to pay off a few debts. Having apprenticed for a number of years in a family owned painting business, he realized he had the skills necessary to start up his own company, and thus R&B Painting was born. A couple years down the road, Andrew Lieberman, another recent art school grad in need of a summer job, grabbed a brush and jumped on board. Over time the two Andrews became partners, making an easy, if obvious name change along the way. Thus began the longest summer gig on record, and the rest, as they say, is history.

In the intervening years, the two Andrews have picked up quite a few skills and honed their techniques in both interior and exterior applications. They’ve also gained an appreciation and understanding for what it means to be successful in running a small, service-oriented business. With their fine arts background, both have an appreciation of architecture and design, and a keen eye for color and aesthetics which translates to being able to better assist you in bringing your project to life.

What It Means to You

We are receptive to your needs. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, we treat each client and project as unique, and cater to your individual specifications and requirements. We are respectful of your home and property, and will go out of our way to be as unobtrusive as possible, particularly if you and your family are residing in the home while work is ongoing. We recognize the need for flexible scheduling at times, if for example you need to take an important in home meeting or conference call, or if the space we’re working in impacts being able to get your kids off to school at a certain time, we’ll work with you to make that happen.

We believe that communication is one of the keys to any successful project and to that end we will provide you with our personal contact information and a promise to respond to any questions or concerns promptly. We will keep you apprised of our progress and, if desired can provide weekly, even daily short email or text progress reports. We encourage clients to participate in the process to whatever extent they feel comfortable, and to communicate their concerns as they arise. There is no detail too trivial to bring to our attention; if it’s important to you we want to know.

We work clean. We will remove and/or thoroughly protect furnishings in the work area, and seal off adjacent areas to prevent migration of dust and odors into non-work rooms. We sand with HEPA vacuum systems that will greatly reduce airborne dust. We keep our work area neat and organized, which we believe is a reflection of the work itself.

We will be happy to assist you in color and finish selection and scheme if desired, utilizing our years of expertise in the field in determining what works and what doesn’t, and our knowledge of current color trends. We will inform you if we uncover conditions that warrant repair or replacement during the course of preparation, and offer you options on how to address those issues and a plan for remediation (unlike some other folks who’ll just paint over it and call it a day; trust us, we’ve seen it!).

The Environment

Andrews Painting is RRP certified and we pay close attention to the environmental concerns of our clients, with a knowledge of the latest green products and applications. Please inform us if you, or another family member have allergies or other sensitivities to some of the procedures or products we may use. We will work with you so that you are comfortable throughout the process.

Our Staff

Our staff of professional craftsmen take great pride in their work and stay current with the latest techniques and products by participating in seminars and attending trade shows. All current team members have been with us ranging from 10 to 25 years each, with a thorough understanding of our system and expectations. So you can feel confident you’ll receive the same level of attention and quality from each of our crew members that you’d expect from the owners.
